The African Women’s Education Fund (AWEF) is a grassroots organization whose mission is to educate young women in Africa. Rooted in the belief that the single best way to attack poverty in the developing world is by educating women, the AWEF is an ecumenical undertaking, administered by its own local, volunteer Board of Trustees. As such, it addresses the educational needs of women attending Secondary School (Ordinary and Advanced levels), which corresponds to middle and high school education in the United States system.
