Selection Process

  • AWEF only supports the secondary education of young women.
  • Upon the recommendation of AWEF partners in Africa, selects two or three new students each year who can demonstrate their ability to complete secondary education by passing an entrance exam.
  • AWEF only adds girls when it has enough funds to assure the girls that they will be able to finish their program of studies up to four years.
  • After acceptance, each student, with the aid of their African sponsors, is expected to send the AWEF board:
    • A photo and a letter each year detailing her course of study
    • Evidence of passing grades and ongoing need.

How your contribution makes it to the students

Money is wired when the school headmaster requests money. Only the amount requested is sent. The money goes directly to the school master who is turn hand delivers the money directly the school.  A representitive from AWEF oversees each expendature made.

Responsibility

In 2015 the board authorized an indpenant audit of the board's finances.  There were no reported inconistances or ratios.

Our volunteer board ensures 100% of your donation supports educational expenses.  All external expenses are covered by board members.
